
in order to provide the required pressure for wellhead , after the well analysis and the down hole design for the first time in the country a Long Stroke Sucker Rod Pumping unit with the stroke length of 9.3 meters and lifting capacity of 50.000 pound were successfully installed and started up by experts of Petro Edman at depth of 1924 meters based in the deepest operation in the country on the Ahvaz well No.420 belong to the National Iranian South Oil Company (N.I.S.O.C) with the possibility of producing more than 1300 barrels Crude oil per day and achieved production targets.
OBJECTIVES
After detection of that the natural drive energy of the reservoir was not strong enough to push desired oil flow from the AZ-420 well to the surface, our client (NISOC) attempted to recover more production.
The primary objective for our client and our team became to achieve desired flow rate on a continuous basis from the AZ-420 well and indeed making sure that no harm is done to the reservoir. After a lot of research, simulations other types of engineering work, our team recommended the best method and unit to be implemented for the first time in Iran.
SOLUTIONS
PETRO EDMAN engineers team recommended a Sucker Rod Pumping (SRP) unit to be installed on the AZ-420 well. In order to maximize the life of the equipment while achieving the desired flow rate, it is desirable to pump as slowly as possible, using the minimum number of strokes. Therefore, first ultra-long stroke pumping unit with stroke length of 366 inches and lifting capacity of 50klb has been installed on this well.
RESULTS
After the pumping unit installation (2023 September) and commissioning, the system performance has been analyzed and the production steadily raised from 200 barrels of crude oil per day (before pump installation) to a stunning continuous rate of 1300 bbl/day.
