OBJECTIVES
To further enhance system reliability and boost production in the
Jofeyr Oil Field, new optimization strategies were developed following
the client’s request to increase oil flow from well JFR-004.
After the successful operation of two Sucker Rod Pump (SRP) systems
previously installed in the same field, the PETRO EDMAN engineering
team initiated the third SRP installation project aimed at sustaining
long-term productivity and equipment reliability.
Following several years of production decline, the well’s natural flow
rate had decreased significantly, limiting output and necessitating an
artificial lift solution. The engineering objective was to design and install
a robust SRP system capable of delivering higher efficiency and
improved mechanical stability under the reservoir’s existing operating
conditions.
SOLUTIONS
Building on the proven success of earlier SRP installations, PETRO
EDMAN proposed the deployment of an Ultra-Long Stroke Sucker Rod
Pumping System for well JFR-004. This system, featuring a stroke length
of 366 inches and a lifting capacity of 50,000 lb, is proposed for the JFR004 well. The design also incorporates material and control
improvements based on field experience from the previous installations.
RESULTS
After the successful installation and testing of the downhole pump (May
2025), preliminary performance evaluation confirmed the system’s
reliability and alignment with design expectations. Upon completion of
the surface unit installation, production is expected to increase from
250 barrels of crude oil per day to approximately 750 barrels per day,
representing a significant enhancement in field productivity.
