OBJECTIVES

After it was determined that the natural drive energy of the reservoir was insufficient to deliver the desired oil flow from well AT-027 to the surface, our client (NISOC) sought to recover and enhance production.

The primary objective for both our client and the PETRO EDMAN engineering team was to achieve the target flow rate on a continuous basis while ensuring that no damage occurred to the reservoir. Following comprehensive studies, simulations, and engineering analyses, our team identified and recommended the most effective artificial lift solution for this well.

SOLUTIONS

The PETRO EDMAN engineering team recommended the installation of a Sucker Rod Pumping (SRP) unit for well AT-027 as part of the 10-unit SRP implementation project.

To maximize equipment lifespan while achieving the desired flow rate, it was essential to operate the system at the lowest feasible speed and with minimal strokes per minute. Therefore, an ultra-long stroke pumping unit with a stroke length of 366 inches and a lifting capacity of 50,000 lb was selected and installed on this well as the eighth SRP system in the project sequence.

RESULTS

After the installation and commissioning in June 2025, system performance analysis confirmed stable and efficient operation. The production rate increased from 200 barrels of crude oil per day (before pump installation) to a continuous rate of 1,000 barrels per day, demonstrating the effectiveness of the selected system and its contribution to the project’s overall production enhancement goals.
