OBJECTIVES
As part of the final phase (10th installation) of PETRO EDMAN’s SRP project with NISOC, the AZ-480 well was selected for system replacement. The well had previously been equipped with a sucker rod pumping unit by another contractor; however, the system failed to operate properly from the beginning on this well.
The objective was to replace the existing unit with a technically optimized SRP system capable of delivering stable production while ensuring longer operational life. Considering the expected decline in well productivity, the design was revised in coordination with the client to improve reliability and long-term performance.
SOLUTIONS
PETRO EDMAN engineering team installed a new Sucker Rod Pumping (SRP) system at a depth of 1950 meters. After detailed technical evaluation and production forecasting, a 2.75-inch plunger was selected instead of the previous 3.75-inch size. This adjustment was made to reduce the mechanical load on the rod string and surface unit, improve system efficiency under declining production conditions, and extend the overall run life of the equipment.
RESULTS
Following installation and commissioning, the AZ-480 well achieved stable production within the target range of 800–1000 barrels of oil per day. The system demonstrated smooth mechanical behavior, balanced load distribution, and reliable performance under current well conditions. The successful replacement confirmed the effectiveness of the revised design and reinforced PETRO EDMAN’s capability in optimizing artificial lift systems for challenging operational environments
