OBJECTIVES
After decades of continuous production from the Masjed Soleyman oil field—the first discovered oil field in the Middle East—the reservoir natural drive energy has significantly declined. As a result, artificial lift solutions became essential to sustain and enhance production from newly drilled wells.
After two previous successful pumping unit installations in the Masjed Soleyman oil field by PETRO EDMAN, NISOC aimed to ensure stable and optimized oil production from the MIS-337 well while protecting reservoir performance and minimizing operational risks. The engineering objective was to design a reliable artificial lift system capable of handling the fluid properties and ensuring the long-term mechanical integrity of both surface and downhole equipment.
SOLUTIONS
PETRO EDMAN engineering team recommended installing a Sucker Rod Pumping (SRP) unit with a 306-inch stroke length and 50 klb lifting capacity. The system was selected to provide reliable performance, mechanical stability, and durability under the well’s operating conditions.
The pumping unit was installed in November 2025. Due to incomplete production flowlines, the well was officially commissioned and brought online in January 2026 after completion of surface facilities.
RESULTS
Following commissioning, the MIS-337 well was successfully brought into production. The system demonstrated stable operation and consistent mechanical performance.
Production increased from zero to a continuous rate of 800 barrels of crude oil per day, confirming the effectiveness of the selected artificial lift system and the robustness of the engineering design.
